Thank you for your fast delivery, and to be honest, your prices for hirte rate and empty are extremely competative. We shall be continuing our contract for the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you recycle mattresses or place mattresses back into the comunity?

We do not clean and refurbish mattresses to place back into the community. This is unethical and unhygienic at best.

However, we are one of South Australia's only companies that recycle the mattresses completely. All mattresses are taken apart and each material is recycled in the recycling station.

Recycled Steel

Steel is one of the most recycled materials across the world. In Australia between 80-90% of steel is reused or recycled. Recycling steel and aluminium reduces CO2 emissions, uses less water and energy to manufacture than virgin steel and aluminium. For example the production of aluminium from recycled steel uses 95% less energy, than production of primary aluminium. For every tonne of recycled steel, it saves 1131 kg of iron ore, 633 kg of coal and 54 kg of limestone. (Clean up Australia Day, Steel and Aluminium Factsheet November 2009).

Plastic Bottles

Here are some interesting facts and statistics about plastic bottles:

  • 5.1 billion: Amount, in pounds, of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles and jars available in the U.S. for recycling in 2009.
  • 2,456 million: Amount, in pounds, of plastic bottles recycled in 2009, making it a record high.
  • 46: Number of plastics collection programs that were added to U.S. communities in 2009.
  • 28: Percentage of PET plastic bottles that got recycled in 2009.
  • 44: Percentage increase in 2009 of RPET (Recycled PET) used in food and beverage bottles.
  • 2/3: of the total energy is saved when producing new plastic products from recycled materials instead of raw (virgin) materials. It also reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Six: The number of hours that the energy conserved from recycling a single plastic bottle can light a 60-watt light bulb.
  • 19: The number of 20 oz. PET bottles it takes to yield enough fiber for an extra large T-shirt or one square foot of carpet (this can be converted to x amount of two litre bottles see below).

Recycling one ton of plastic saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space

Plastic Facts

Plastic pollutes our oceans, approximately 6 million tonnes of rubbish is dumped into the world’s oceans each year of which 80 percent is plastic, “with an estimated 46 000 pieces of plastic per square mile of ocean”. (Clean up Australia Day, Plastic Recycling Fact Sheet 2009) . Other interesting plastic facts are below, and have been copied and pasted from clean up Australia day pamphlet.

  • The energy saved by recycling one plastic drink bottle will power a computer for 25 minutes
  • Recycling plastic saves twice as much energy as burning it in an incinerator
  • It takes 25 two litre plastic bottles to make an adult fleece jacket

Do our bins have easy open plastic lids?

NO, we do not use the easy open plastic type lid on our bins. We have specially engineered spring loaded steel lids. The reason for the steel lids are for fire safety. If a bin has a hot ember in it for any reason on a plastic lid bin, then there is no way to assist in putting out the fire. Our bins have the metal lid especially for this safety factor.
